STAUNTON
Move to the “Queen City” that offers a relatively low cost of living with housing prices at a fraction of those in major cities. Staunton has restaurants that span all price points and tastes, from fine dining to home-style Southern cooking. There are hiking and biking trails, beautiful parks, a golf course, entertainment and educational activities. Close to Waynesboro (15 miles), Harrisonburg (29 miles) and Charlottesville (40 miles). It is also within a 45 minute drive to two airports, Charlottesville (CHO) and Shenandoah Valley (SHD).
Named by The National Trust for Historic Preservation as “One of a Dozen Distinctive Destinations in the United States,” Staunton was also the first community in Virginia to receive the “Great American Main Street Award.” A college town at heart, Staunton calls to those who are looking for a diverse cultural experience and room to roam. It is anchored by a historic downtown district and Mary Baldwin University (with roots stretching back to the 1800’s), and has the pace of a small town with all of the vibrancy of the locally owned shops, restaurants, and breweries. One of the oldest towns west of the Blue Ridge Mountains, there are five distinct historic districts within Staunton, each featuring homes with classis architectural details.
GYPSY HILL PARK
This 214-acre park features trails for walking and biking, a large duck pond, pavilions for barbeques, play areas, and a dog park. It also hosts a summer concert series in the Stonewall Bandstand and has a large pool for refreshing swims in the summer.
